Dr Khamis is a consultant cardiologist and the Clinical Director of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.  He holds a joint academic appointment as a Reader (Associate Professor)  at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He is also the clinical lead for the high risk atherosclerosis and cardio immune clinic at Imperial, treating complex cases.

Dr. Khamis is  a leading teaching hospital consultant with expertise in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac risk. 
He carries out coronary angiography and angioplasty using advanced techniques. 

Dr Khamis is also an expert on the link between the immune system and the heart. This includes coronary artery disease and early atherosclerosis in high risk populations. During COVID, Dr. Khamis Cardio immune clinic has been  handling many cases of post COVID complications such as myocarditis and pericarditis.


Dr. Khamis  has a deep interest and is a leader in the research field of cardiovascular medicine.  He and his team work on the innovative development of interventional cardiology technologies  as well as new blood tests for the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease which is the leading single cause of the death globally.

Dr Khamis heads up the Imperial Vulnerable Plaque and Patient Meeting with a distinguished board from Imperial and globally  as the Imperial College Convener.  VPM  the leading meeting in the field of risk in atherosclerosis  where the latest advances in the field are presented and future research planned and discussed.
